Psych 08/01/08 Daredevils!
"I think Vick just ordered me to get Lassiter a girlfriend."
"Good luck with that."
to the helicopter pilot from Lost appearing as Dutch the Clutch
to the blatant Dunkin Donuts product placement
Next week: Steven Weber!

I have always enjoyed this show but the first two I thought were a big let down, now this one seemed more like the Psych from the other seasons, alot more fun.

I thought the High School reunion show from last week was one of the best Psychs ever. This one was kind of meh. Still some funny moments. But overall just average.
What the hell was that about setting them on fire to test out the suits? Can't the test out the suits some other way? Such as JUST BURNING THE SUITS? Or putting them on crash test dummies and burning them? That just totally took me out of the moment because they were obviously just doing it for the laughs.

All the laughs make up for the cheesy 'special effects.' You'd think for the 2nd season they'd increase the budget.

I love Psych, but that Dunkin' Donuts plug was ridiculous. Almost ruined the whole episode.

I assume you're talking about the rooftop scene? Yeah, that was pretty bad.

I thought the episode was ok. Wasn't sure when we would see Frank the Pilot again, since he wasn't "O6". Maybe he is flying Penny and Desmond around the world.
But, I totally missed the Dunkin Donuts thing. I wasn't paying strong attention. I was seeing flops while watching ( there was some rewinding). So that part didn't bother me.
But I too was having a little trouble with the suit testing. Then I realized, this is a light comedy and really doesn't require too much dissection.
Its just plain fun. So I just sat back and enjoyed (between flops in which I was involved ).

I don't really get your point. 99% of what they do in this show is "for the laughs".

My problem with the first two were, the first one had Shawn not only doing bad, but illegal stuff to keep Gus in the business, just rewrite to make the blackmail less serious. In the second episode the old girl that wanted Shawn and the big decision between the girl from high school or the detective.
The serious stuff just doesn't work for me, I guess it all has to be for fun.

I had no problem with the Dunkin Donuts thing. Big deal if they talk about a product in the show. It's not like real people don't ever talk about real products. If they can throw in 3-4 lines of dialog and get several hundred thousand dollars, it sounds like a good trade off to me.

That's what bothered me. It wasn't like anything anyone would have discussed in real life. It was just not very well written.

I thought it was a VERY well-written jab at incongruous product placements. Which they got Dunkin' Donuts to pay them for!
(Probably not something they or anyone could get away with often, however. I wonder if Damages ever got another product placement deal after they did one for Olive Garden where the restaurant came across as a place where uneducated hicks go?)

I think the obviousness of the blue-screen background was much more jarring than the actual Dunkin Donuts product placement.

I guess it could have been that. Maybe I just missed it entirely.

At the beginning of the show one of them mentioned Taco Johns that I was always told was more of a Midwest fast food chain, I didn't even think they had them in CA. Locations here http://www.tacojohns.com/locations.asp?f=zip I had to rewind just to see if I actually heard "Taco Johns" in the conversation.

Okay episode. I haven't really LOVED any of the main plot lines this year. I thought the Lassie side-plot stole the show this week.

OMG that was one of my favorite parts of this episode! I really loved how he tried to put it on back on Jules that she was into him. I especially loved his escort in the end...."so are we going to do this or what?" He looked so sad!
Great episode!
