cable amps and potential tuner damage

Would an amp like this damage the tuner/s in an HD box?
The HD box in my bedroom, hangs sometimes while changing channels with the 'searching for signal' banner. The box in my front room never has to 'search' for a signal. I was thinking I'd use the amp after the 1st split so that it would boost the signal to the cable modem and 2nd HD box.
BTW: The main cable feed to the condo is split in the living room, one side going to the 1st HD box, and then runs to the bedroom where it's split between a cable modem and the 2nd HD box.
(Both stock HDs, but the living room has am SA M-Card.)

Electroline drop amps are top quality products.
Always place amp before any splitters (if possible).
The two port version of the EDA2200 which you hyper linked has 11db forward gain per port- that's quite high, very possibly overkill and although it won't damage the tuner- it could overdrive it resulting in worse performance then you have now.

If you use one of the Electroline amps with 0 db gain out (like the EDA-UG 2402)- you can't possibly damage your tuner. I've been using a 0db gain (1-in 8-out) Electroline amp for 2.5 years now... my TiVo-HD loves it!

Thanks, I'll give one a try.

Update:

Weird, but I got the cable card before getting an amp, and haven't experienced any 'searching for signal' banners since.
Works for me
