I've read a lot of different freeze issues with TivoHD and the dreaded 93a firmware. I've called TiVo support twice, only to be told that it would be 1-2 weeks for an update. Well, its been 3 months. Why do I think this is different?
One thing when my TiVo locks up, I can tell because I can hear it "Buzzing" really loud when it locks up. TV is off, and it will make a strange churp followed by a continual buzzing noise. I've noticed the lack of that fine detail which leads me to believe my lockup may or may not be different than the typical firmware issue. But, each time I've called, the TiVo rep immediately cuts me off and states (pretty emphatically too) that its a known firmware issue. When I ask when I might be able to use my TiVo again, I'm told that TiVo i working on it as fast as possible.
I did get somewhat flustered at the last rep I spoke to and told him, "look, I called almost 2 months ago and was told 2 weeks." His response was that they ran into troubles isolating the problem and it was going to take a little longer. Again, I don't know if its hardware or really a firmware issue, but I figured I'd pepper the question out to the wonderful TiVo series 3/ TiVo HD crowd for help since the CSRs have been little to no help.
