Auto Transfer by Show or SP?

I just discovered the Auto Transfer button on my Tivo desktop. I couldn't find a help topic discussing this feature though.

I have two season passes set up for this show -- one is FRO/KID and those episodes I transfer to my PC before I delete. The other season pass on a different channel is Repeats/Space Needed.

I would like to auto transfer the first run shows, but I don't want duplicate copies of episodes. Will the autotransfer check whether a program has already been copied? Is there an option menu for this? Or will it simply go by the season pass and then I won't have any trouble?

Because I just chose the title, I don't see how it would go by SP, and I'm hoping it doesn't record duplicate episodes. I could wait and see what happens, but I thought it would be easier to ask here.

TiVo Desktop does have some sort of transfer history similar to the 28-day rule on the TiVo itself. I'm not sure exactly how it works though, and if it's smart enough to distinguish between the same show recorded via SP or WL.
