Can we get a Sticky Thread for the 9.3a software/freezing issue?

Could we get a sticky thread where folks could post the latest word they have from TiVo and/or where the TiVo staff can post updates? Just an idea. Thx, John.

Do you mean the seemingly random screen freeze with audio continuing, that doesn't actually seem to disrupt what's being recorded, that only a reboot fixes?

No this is if you have the coax cable attached, either playback or caching freezing with no audio, or if you're on a TiVo menu screen, you can see the background routine is running choppy/stuttering. If I disconnect the coax cable, I can watch anything without experiencing any of the above symptoms, but of course can't record anything.

Have you run the Kickstart 54 code to see if it finds an error with your drive? I got a 'Fail 7' message on the extended test and have the same issues you describe.

I ran a quickstart, I think 57? I got the green screen, and it rebooted, but still freezes. Reading all the 9.3a code issue threads, I'm 90% sure it's that, not an HD issue.

Can you run the Kickstart 54 code just to see if you get a failure message as well? It is like a checkdisk command. When the menu comes up, downarrow once to the Run SMART tests.

Is this the same as what is being reported in the thread above this one?

I have reported a similar problem in this thread? http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=393114
I would love to be able to run Kickstart 54, but if you have to hold the pause while it is powering up until you see the yellow light to enter the 54 code, there is not enough time to enter the code before it continues to powering up and then freezes on the TiVo Central screen which takes forever for the text to appear.

I have unplugged the coax so that I can watch what I have recorded. I am able to transfer programs from my Series 2, but it continues to freeze and then reboots endlessly if the coax is connected.

Suggestions?

I have a replacement drive on order. I did a test and tried to pull a Tivo recording from my PC back to the Tivo. The menus started stuttering as well and the transfer failed. This matched the behavior of it trying to record anything through either the cable or antenna inputs. This makes me think it is probably the disk versus a tuner problem. The wierd thing is that my web downloads lilke DL.tv and Fast Lane Daily have continued to download and playback successfully. I wonder if they are written to a different part of the disk or just treated differently than TV programs. Luckily I was able to pull all of my shows off the Tivo with Tivo to Go so I can move them to the new disk. I'll report back if the replacement disk works.

I got my new hard drive installed yesterday and it seems to be working again. Of course I lost all my settings and season passes, but I am at least able to push my recorded shows from my PC back to the unit with Tivo-to-comeback. I forced some restarts and have the current codebase installed now with no issues. At least I have doubled my capacity with the new drive investment.
