A Comcast tech came out today to look at the problem I've been having with my DCT 3412 where a new season pass will set up to record an initial set of episodes, but never record any further episodes unless I cancel it and set up a new one. These are all set with delete for space available, so disk space isn't the problem. Also setting up a new season pass took between 2 and 5 minutes.
When the tech came out, we couldn't even display the season passes, it gave an error message that it couldn't do it, try again later. At this point, he just replaced the box with a DCT 3416 and after a half hour or so the Tivo software got loaded. It then took about 6 hours to get a week's worth of programming information.
When I went to set up the season passes again, it is much faster, about 30 sec to set one up. I can't tell yet if it is getting new ones, I'll post about that in a couple of days, but the fast response is indeed welcome!
Anyway, I'm wondering if there's a difference between the 3412 and 3416 or if it's something like disk fragmentation which the software can't deal with. I suppose it's also possible that the latest software version doesn't handle being installed on top of existing software but is happier if it's the first version installed.
