Tivo remote and Aspect

I have the new Tivo HD using the M cable card with a Hdmi cable and a Panasonic 50" tv,

If I am watching a analog station I can change the aspect with the Tivo remote but if I am watching a HD channel the Tivo remote won't change the aspect.

In HD I must use the Panasonic remote to change the aspect.

I have tried all the setting from Native down to 430i and nothing helps.

I talked to Tivo support 3 times and no help.

First they said it was probably my TV then after awhile they said it probably was Comcast. Finally they agreed to sent me another box, although that probably won't help.

Is that normal because I tried 2 tivo remotes and they all do the same.

I also got the black screen but that is another issue.

I would appreciate if anyone can just let me know if this is normal or not.

Thanks

I also have a Panasonic, and though I am not sure if that is the norm on non Panasonics, I too cannot control the aspect ratio of an HD show with the tivo remote. Only the Panasonic remote.

I now use a Harmony 880, so I can do what I please, but I don't find the need to change the aspect ratio of an HD show, only non-HD stuff.

Actually the behavior is normal. On my 4:3 HD CRT, if I am watching a widescreen program I can change from letterboxed/full/zoom using the TiVo remote, but not with standard definition programs which are already 4:3. It's simply the reverse with a widescreen set.

I understand what you said but that means I must keep both remotes on the table if I want to watch everything in wide screen, crazy.

Thanks for your imput.

Sometimes if I go from a HD channel with wide screen and then go to another HD channel I have to hit the aspect to make it wide again. Can't remember if the tv did that before tivo. I have the Harmony 1000 and don't like it at all, buggy.

I might look into the 880 or maybe the new One.

Thanks
