Assistance Please -- Tivo Lifetime $399

A little help???

Hello. I bought a Tivo HD over the weekend and want to establish a lifetime account on this box.

Can anyone tell me the exact procedure for my sister (a current lifetime sub) to go through to get my box on lifetime?

I want to email her the instructions and phone her my credit card # and make it as simple as possible.

Thank you all, Bill

you can go to tivo.com and purchase your service through there, just be sure to select Lifetime and not one of the other plans. The Activate or Upgrade Tab is on the left of the main page. You'll need the Tivo Service # and an email address. Follow the prompts from there...

Thanks, we've tried it and don't see how to do it anywhere. There is no option for Lifetime. We only see this:
  • $12.95 / The TiVo Service Only 1 Year, Monthly
  • $129.00 / Service Only, 1 Year, Prepay
  • $249.00 / Service Only, 2 Year, Prepay
  • $299.00 / Service Only, 3 Year, Prepay

I'm trying to create a detailed step-by-step that I can send to my sister.

Thanks all.

you have to be a current tivo subscriber in order to see the life time option in your account. if this is your first tivo, you will not see it. since your sister has one already, she will see the lifetime option.

THANKS EVERYONE !!

You're right. I could not see it but she logged on and found it. Had to play with several screens till she found it.

It certainly is not that easy for a typical non-geek person.

I appreciate all the answers.
-----

Essentially...
  1. She went to "Manage My Account" and logged in.
  2. Then she went to "Activate or Upgrade Tivo Service".
  3. Then she put in MY new Tivo box number and HER email address and clicked "continue".
  4. Entered HER password again.
  5. Then clicked "Lifetime Service" and filled in the screen with MY credit card information.
  6. Then went to the Verify screen
  7. Finally Print Receipt.

Now we'll just have to transfer the box to me when it is finished subscribing.

How much of a geek does one have to be to consider logging in to your account and clicking on 'TiVo price plans' as not at all a difficult concept?
