A couple tivo questions...

First off I have Sony SAT-T60

The unit is making a loud humming noise. I checked the fam and it's not it. So I think it is the hard drive. My guess is I will be changing the hard drive soon.

Second can I hook the tivo to the Internet to update it. I currently don't have a phone line but I do have DSL only. Therefore I can not make a daily call.

It doesn't really need to make a call, all its data an authorization comes form satellite.

That said, the TiVo call can be made with Serial PPP, or with a Turbonet adapter installed (and some hacks).

The PPV call needs to be made with the built in modem however.
