MPG from PC to TIVO
I have ripped my DVD to an mpg and can transfer and watch it on my Tivo Humax series 2 and my Tivo series 2 DT but not my Tivo series 2 (one tuner).
I have tried many of the "working" solutions posted on this forum and end up with the same results over and over.
All 3 of my Tivos are running 9.x code although it is different on each - don't know if that makes a difference or not.
Any ideas

Go to your TiVo 'My Account' and make sure the checkboxes for transfers are checked for all the boxes, force tivo connections after you have check marked and see the acct info page on tivo needs to say,
'TivoToGo: a,a,a'

What do you mean by can't watch it? You can't transfer it? Or you can transfer it but the video does not play?

MPG from PC to TIVO
Sorry, yes it transfers to all 3 tivos.
It transfers and plays audio and video on 2 tivos.
It transfers and plays audio only on the 3rd tivo.

That is a known bug (by us on the forum at least). Widescreen videos on 540s won't show video, only audio since 9.x. Same videos play just fine on my 240.

If it is a bug - is it a selective bug?
It works fine on 2 of my series 2 units, just not the 3rd.
Maybe, since the 3rd unit had the oldest version of 9.x code - it doesn't work.
Was the bug corrected or is it intended to be corrected?

What model Series 2 do you have? AFAIK, the bug is still out there. I'll dig up some links.

Guess you already answered that. The only S2 with the problem is the 540 (I think).

Do you have a widescreen TV? If so you can use a program like VideoReDo or dvdpatcher to simply change the aspect ratio of the video to 4:3. The TiVo will then be able to play the video and you can simply stretch it to fit the screen. If you have a 4:3 TV this will also work, but the video will be squished to fill the whole screen.

I see that 540 is the version of code - answers the bug question - thanks Greg

I had tried out the VideoRedo but hadn't tried changing the aspect... will try...
Also, noticed when trying to output the file with the .tivo - it doesn't show up in my tivo desktop.... but if I output as mpg, I am OK
Thanks

Outputting as a .tivo file only works if the original file is a .tivo file.
