Video Walkthru of Comcast TIVO

A 5 minute video walkthru of a Comcast TIVO in the wild. Shows features like playing back a recorded program, the guide, and search by Title.

Hmm. My impression is that he paused the program himself.

Smile A new option?

So does Comcast's TiVo s/w continue to show whatever's playing through all the TiVo menu pages unles a viewer pauses it? Are there any menu pages which automatically pause the playing program?

Although many TiVo users apparently like TiVo's automatic pause when entering menu's, I'd rather be able to choose.

Perhaps Comcast's TiVo s/w actually does have a unique useful feature (besides the "4-speed shift")!

BTW, how does that 4th speed fit in with the original three; is it the fastest? In general TiVo's FF/RW speeds are relatively slow.

Yes, in the guide you get a box in the right upper corner that is like 1/6th the screen with either live tv or a recording playing back. When you go to the other menu's you get the same, but the box is more like 1/8th the size of the screen.

Yes, the 4th FF is the fastest, it's similar to how to the motorola box worked under iguide, but when you go back to normal speed, it puts you back a few seconds like other Tivo's.

Steve,

Thanks for the video tour. This is the first video tour I've seen.

Can you do another one that demonstrates On Demand interacting with the Tivo? e.g.
searching picking up an On Demand show,
setting a season pass for an On Demand only program,
playing back and On Demand recorded show?

Thanks!!!

You may be thinking about of the standalone TiVo HD with cable cards - the Comcast DVR with TiVo software is intended to work with ComCast services.

The User Manual posted in the thread below shows OnDemand use starting on page 10. There's even an "OnDemand" button on the remote.

I think the point was about TiVo-cording an On Demand show/movie.

Can THAT be done?

Sure the Comcast box will let people TUNE the On Demand shows, but can it record them?

According to the manual you can start an OnDemand program and save it to watch for later (up until the time that it expires). It does not appear that you can schedule an OnDemand program to record or use the Season Pass or WishList features with OnDemand.

I believe what you're saving is a handle -- basically a stub. It isn't the data of the program; playing it back you'll still be subject to the manner in which FF and REW work with On Demand, rather than the manner in which FF and REW work with regular recordings.
