Does this Installation Strategy Make Sense?

I have a Humax Lifetime in my living room with Comcast abd a cable box and a Toshiba with MSD in the bedroom without a box. In a second bedroom I just have straight cable with no box and no Tivo.

I am thinking of getting a HD Tivo and doing the install in the third bedroom. Get it all set up, plugged in and cable cards set without disrupting the main family room. With the transfer of the Toshiba MSD to the HD, the Toshiba will just revert back to basic.

After the HD is all set up and works properly, I will then unplug and move to the family room.

Does installing the HD in a third location to work out the bugs make sense?

If the living room has the nicest and/or most watched TV, I would say set it up there from the start. The bugs won't be any easier to work out in the bedroom.

If you're worried about the Comcast cable box, simply unplug it for the time being, and you can give it back when you're sure the THD works properly on the analog channels. I gave my DVR back to the cable guy when he showed up to install my CableCards.

You could plug both up on the same TV and change the remote codes. Then you can use both at the same time.
