MRV Question: Can I "send" a show to another unit for later?

I didn't see this answered, so here it goes.

I have a S3 in my living room. I have a TivoHD in my bedroom. All are hardwired with cat5.

Since HD recordings seem to transfer for MRV in "real time"( ...meaning, I can't skip commercials on a show I'm watching through MRV, unless I start the transfer, then pause it for a while as more show transfers) ...

Can I, being downstairs, tell my S3 to send a show to my upstairs TivoHD, FROM the S3 unit? Kinda a reverse MRV.

This way, the show would already be fully transferred when I went upstairs later... and I'd be able to skip commercials.

Of course this isn't an issue for SD content (since it transfers like 5x realtime and usually is totally transferred before the first commercial break). I also know I could just walk upstairs and start the transfer, for later watching... .but damn it, having TiVo is about laziness... and I don't want to have to walk upstairs.

Thanks for any suggestions as to if this can be done.

Unfortunately, I don't believe that's possible right now. But man', I sure would love to have that feature too.

You can't because i don't think they want the possibility of people filling other people's TiVo's with stuff and having it thereby delete things to make room (think, siblings).

What you can do is run upstairs, start the transfer, and then go back down, so when you go back up later, it'll be ready. Otherwise, you can just have the program record on both.

There are/were some HME apps (e.g., Galleon) that let you push to a PC but that's it AFAIK.

I would love to have that feature as well.

Many times I have wished that I could just push the show to the bedroom so it was already there.

Isn't using the stairs considered exercise!

Some of us think pushing buttons on a remote is exercise.

I certainly could use that capability also. And longer term, I'd like to see it extended to delete as well as setting up recordings as well as season passes on remote systems. When one has multiple TiVos in different rooms, one of the uses of these systems is archiving programs on other systems which have disk storage available. That's awkward today with one having to walk to the receiving TiVo and then back to the original to delete the original recording.

yah, they were talking about extending the HME interface to expose more of the DVR functions to HME. Then Comcast came along with multiple millions to develop TiVo on OCAP and they shelved it. Hope they bring that back someday soon. This would be one of many excellent features extending the HME interface could enable.

You could use a Slingbox to control the remote TiVo UI and start the MRV transfer.

or a product like the Leapfrog would allow remote control of the upstairs TiVo.

The problem with leapfrog and similar products is that you can't see the display from downstairs.

the product he linked does

"Audio and video literally leaps through the air to allow TV-to-TV connection with the LeapFrog Wavemaster system. No messy cables to string from room to room! "

it sure does, as does this one as well:

and unlike using a slingbox (a great product) to solve the op's problem, these products will do the job without the need for either a home network or a personal computer.
