Problems with USB Wired Adapter

Hello All,

I have a Series 2 that I was going to give to the in-laws for Christmas. Since they don't do the wireless thing I purchased a USB ethernet adapter (The linksys one that Tivo sells on their website).

However, I've since discovered that the Tivo locks up itself and my router when it attempts to update in the background (This is what I'm assuming). When I manually start an update, the process works properly.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions in this area? I've tried reseating the USB Connector, and reconnecting the network cable.

Any ideas before I call Tech support and see what they have to say?

Did you try a clear and delete everything from the restart menu? Sounds like a software problem rather than hardware one.

Have you restarted the Tivo?
Have you restarted the router?

Unless the in-laws use the same router, I wouldn't expect them to see the problem unless the problem is that the adapter itself is bad.

The tivo has been restarted every time this occurrs because there is a still picture on the screen. Usually seems to be recording something because the red light is on. Initially I thought it was a bad drive so I put two brand new drives in there and the issue still occurrs.

The router has also been restarted several times.

I plugged everything back in this morning about 2 hours ago. We'll see how long this lasts.
