TiVo and AT&T Uverse?

I know Uverse is incompatible with the Series 3 TiVo, but my Series 2 seems to work if I could get a lineup and an IR code to work with my Uverse STB.

Does anyone else have any experience here?

Is there any hope of HD or Series 3 support for Uverse? I'd pay extra for the features I miss. The Uverse interface is better than Comcast's DVR but far short of TiVo.

If you just got Uverse in your area, just report a lineup to TiVo. The IR code is there to change channels.

While I believe the Series 3 platform could be made to work with Uverse, I don't believe there are any real plans to support it.

Considering that the S3 and THD models lack IR blaster capability, I'm not quite sure how that's going to happen.

The only way those models would work with U-verse is if AT&T decided to implement some sort of CableCard style compatibility the way Verizon did with FiOS.

Although U-verse could theoretically be adapted to cable standards, it would require two-way operation for channel selection, which Tivo doesn't support.

Fios is a conventional cable system as far as video broadcast. (It deviates from cable in upstream and VOD handling, but that doesn't affect one-way devices).

There would be no STB or cablecards needed. TiVo would just have to write up an API for Uverse IPTV, using the built in ethernet. But TiVo has better fish to fry, and I think that the IPTV system is strongly tied to Microsoft somehow.
