IP address conflict *SOLVED*
Hi all,
I have a zippered DirecTv unit (series 2 Samsung 4040R), and would like to network it with my computer. However the IP address I entered when I ran the zipper has changed. I moved since then and the router and the Tivo IP address have changed.
In this situation is there an easy fix for this problem?
Can I re run the zipper on that drive, enter the correct IP addresses, and still keep the recordings on the drive? The recordings are very important so I dont want to risk losing them!
Many many thanks in advance for your advice!

Can't you temporarily assign your PC its old IP address, connect to the tivo, change the tivo's address, then reset your PC?

Ok I should have mentioned that I am not that technical.... I didn't even know you could change your computers ip address. HOWEVER... I did some Googling, found out how to change it, and that set off a series of major events.. such as pinging my Tivo and getting a response, using Tivo Server to upload videos from my pc to the tivo, and the grand daddy of them all... installing tytools! OMG, I had problems but searched and searched and found out the problem was simply not having a '#' in the server shell prompt string.
Needless to say this is a friggin HAPPY DAY..... Becks Beer, Tool 10,000 days playing, and a friggin networked Tivo transfering shows to my pc! Does it get any better than this??

I'm an old geezer not up on the current slang. What does "she gave me wings" mean? Is it anything like "around the world"?

OMG, I can only wish there was a woman there at 4 am-after I finally 'networked' my tivo-to go around the world with. That would have been the 'cap' to a perfect evening.
But in reality, the reference to Marie, and Rosetta, was a lame answer to the post, "....women????" Marie and Rosetta are merely referring to song titles to Tool's CD "10,000 Days".
