Glad I wasn't the only one who was thinking of the Emperor with Kristen Bell.

I totally agree, except I don't think they were in Odessa. The archictecture looked like somewhere in Eastern Europe (although I'm no expert, so I'm pulling that out of my arse).

Yeah, but the Odessa they were going to was located in the Ukraine, so that fits.
Here's a crazy thought: could "White Beard" be Linderman? He does have a white beard, and he had an extensive collection of Kensei artifacts...

I've never seen Veronica Mars, but I will say KB sure has a sparkling personality.

That's right, my bad.
I could see the Linderman angle on White Beard, especially with his powers to heal.

the visual effects on KB's electricity is so cheesy... why was it blue?
Micah's acting needs to improve but overall, I like his storyline with Monika. Something refreshing.

I'm wondering if their budget was cut from last season. There seems to be a lot more badly done green screen this season

I also thought White Beard would be Linderman.
I thought this was a really strong, meaty episode. I liked it from start to finish, except for the few moments of bad green screen.
KB was not really like veronica mars at all aside from having a snarky tone. There was an undercurrent of menace in each of her scenes that she never had in VM. Whereas VM was pretending to be sassy but was actually sweet, this character is pretending to be sweet but is actually sassy.
I like the micah family stuff because we are once again finally seeing someone willing to test their powers to the limit and not treat them as a sinful attribute that they must ignore.
I thought Nikki was over the split personality stuff?? WTF? And did she say "thank you" to mohinder before beating the snot out of him?
Are we to believe that parkman's power is actually the same as his dad's or was it perhaps a ruse to gain his trust?
Now that Hiro and Kensei are no longer whiny brats I kind of want to see more of their story.

My issue with the Odessa/Ukraine scenes wasn't about how it looked, but rather what we saw last night provided NO insight as to why they were even there.

Something doesn't smell right about Nikki's sudden appearence. I think there's something going on there.
Parkman's old man is still a mystery. Is his nightmare power an expanded version of Parkman's telepathy? Is he the mastermind of this serial killing of 1st gen supers, or just another potential victim? Stay tuned for the answers!!

Well, he had a godsend glyph on a torn picture of him, I'd assume he's another potential victim.

But why would he have it, and not Bob? I took that to mean he created the one of his own as part of the ruse, and he accidentally left behind the one he intended to leave with Bob.

I think Parkman's father is bad, but not the "real bad guy" I think there is a mastermind behind this and Parkman's dad works for him. I think Molly was scared of him for the reason we saw last night, he can capture you in a nightmare that you may not be able to get out of.
All said in done, I am thinking that the "real bad guy" will end up being Kensei who went bad because of something that Hiro did in the past. If you think about it, there is no other reason to give so much screen time to Kensei and Hiro. I thought it would be about Hiro growing into the person we see in "five years later", but they continue to portray him as the bumbling fool in love with Kensei's girlfriend.
We are learning that everyone is somehow connected, so I have to think that Kensei is involved somehow...

Why wouldn't it be blue. Aren't regular electric arc's blueish-white?
BTW, I guess this somewhat settles the question of what power it was that Peter used in the storage bin. We all assumed that it was a "cold fusion" blast from his Radioactive Man powers, but apparently Peter encountered Kristen Bell in the past and picked up her ElectroGirl mojo.

Also, I forgot to mention, that scene with Parkman and Petrelli fighting in his dad's apartment was awesome. It was shot very well it a took me a bit to realize what was actually happening. Good stuff.

It could be that he is simply the founder of what became the Company, and possibly the original source of the powers (i.e., everybody else is a descendant of his).

No, but I'm sure that either Peter or one of the Irish people referred to his power as "sparks from the fingers". And it sure looked like KB's power to me. But it does suck for Peter, meeting a girl, generating sparks, and not remembering a thing.

Yeah, they've gone out of their way to tell us that Peter is "shooting lightning" or "electric" sparks from his hands. He did not have that power last year. So when I saw KB's power, I thought he must have met her before too.

He didn't though... he shot a blue blast just like we've seen before. It didn't look like KB's powers whatsoever.

I'm fairly certain that the only time we've seen that blue blast was in the 5-year flashforward episode from last season. As Crowfan said, this is something new, and not at all incomparable to Kristen Bell's powers.

Here's something I thought about: is Nathan's scarred man in the mirror placed in his mind by Matt's dad?

Ted used it as well, didn't he? Regardless, there is no indication one way or another that it was KB's powers because the visual effect and physical effect were both dissimilar.

This was the first episode this season that, for me, matched the level of last season. I enjoy watching the origin stories (I'm looking forward to Heroes:Origins), and so I didn't mind seeing the cousin learn about her 'muscle mimic' ability, even if she did choose a kind of lame test for it. Interesting that it's not just limited to things seen on television, as earlier supposed, but extends to anything she sees.
It was neat seeing Mica play the piano: Noah Gray-Caby (the actor) is an accomplished concert pianist; I think that's the first time they've worked that into an episode though, as I recall.
One quibble: in the scene where Mohinder tasers Jessica, while Jessica is throttling Bob up against the wall, Mohinder easily takes down Jessica and Bob falls to the ground (because Jessica let go) and then Bob brushes himself off and gets up. Maybe I just don't understand how tasers work. I had assumed that if you tase someone that is holding a second person, the second person will be shocked too. No?
