CID Transmission Error

I have 2 days left on my Tivo programming. I have tried in vain to get it to download. When I check the phone connections it dials, connects and hangs up.

Last night I was checking the portable phone to see if I was still connected and I saw "CID Transmission Error" flash across the phone screen.

Any clues as to why I can't download the new programming.

Thanks in advance.

Did you do a phone line check or have it do its daily call?

And CID is Caller ID, that just menas that it couldn't display the CID for the incoming call. This isn't related.

I have checked the phone connection and it's fine. Nothing has changed since I got my Tivo 2 years ago. I just changed the phone number I dial into to see if that helps but it did not. I watched Tivo connect and download the info and waited until it finish loading then I checked the Last Attempt and it states No Connection.

Was it really downloading data or just negotiating the connection? Listen in with a phone to hear what it's doing.

My guess is that the modem in the unit has failed.

I'll let others point you toward possible solutions as I don't have a standalone TiVo.

I checked the phone splitter and it was bad. I replaced it and I was able to download my programming.

Thanks for all your help.

First law of troubleshooting is to look at the simple things first.
