Tivo error 1722

I'm having the same problem. I'm using Windows Vista . And like the rest of you on here, tech support is anything but.
I read something about having to do a regedit to allow certain .dll files. I tried that and it still didn't work.
I also heard that with Vista you are not inherently given administrator access. You have to set it up. Anyone here know how to do that?
Thanks

Try this this I beleive this is what I used on my vista setup.
1. On the Start menu, click All Programs.
2. Click Accessories.
3. Right-click Command Prompt and choose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR from the shortcut menu.
4. When the User Account Control dialog appears, click Continue.
5. At the command prompt type the following:
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
6. Press Enter on your keyboard.
7. A message should appear stating "DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded."
8. Click OK and try installing the software again.

Angry Vista Desktop software woes

Tivo Desktop software is NOT working with Vista. I have tried
- uninstalling
- running the Tivo unistall cleaner
- command prompt (run as administrator) .dll thingy

- The instal apears to work however I get an error that says:

"Beacon service not running" retry or cancel

Who should I be more upset at Tivo or Vista?

Did you go to tivo.com support and look for that issue?

I had that issue several years ago and I know that tivos support helped rsolve the issue.
I'd look it up but my DSL is down and I'm on my emergency dial up so I don't have the time or the patience.

DSL is back!!!
to restart the Tivo beacon service
control panel->Admin Tools->Services

Make sure you are using the latest version (I think it's 2.5.1). Older versions, including the one recently on the TiVo site that was optimized for Intel VIIV, are not only incompatible with Vista but are very difficult to uninstall.

While I certainly am not a fan of Vista (from personal experience), I will say that the latest version of TiVo desktop DOES work with it.
