Series1 (SVR-2000) IR conflict
Hello,
I've had a Series 1 Sony TiVo w/ lifetime sub since about 2000. Recently I purchased a Westinghouse LTV-27w7 27" LCD tv. Unfortunately, the TV conflicts with the remote codes for the TiVo. Pressing up or down causes the display or menu from the TV to appear, channel up/down will force up/down on the TV. Basically everything conflicts and it's not usable.
Later TiVo's (s2 and above?) have a switch to control multiple units. I can't find my original manual for this machine, and can't find it online. Anyone know if there's a way to set the SVR-2000's to a separate IR signal, or any other creative ways around this? I see in some forum posts on avsforum that others confirm the same issue with Westinghouse TV's and various Sony products, so it's not just me.

Thanks for the link. Those were indeed the correct instructions. Unfortunately, setting it to 1, 2 or 3 still conflicts with the TV. Damn westinghouse.
If anyone has any other suggestings to get around a remote conflict, other than:
suggestions welcome!

Upgrading your remote to a universal with addressable RF. Like the URC mx-350 and mrf250 combo.
You setup two devices, each set to RF only, then assign a different output on the RF basestation, which in turn is wired to the Tv and tivo. The repeater cables are tape to the tv & tivo so the only commands they get are from the repeater cable.

Clever idea. I'd assume that these remotes could send IR at all. My TiVo is actually in another room, I use IR repeaters to get to it right now. I could almost have RF to the box that comes with the MX remotes going to the TiVo, and use IR direct to the TV, assuming the remote can spit out both (Perhaps it cannot?)
This appears to be my only option with my current hardware. It's a shame, I love my Sony RM-VL900 remote(s).

Each device on the mx-350 can either be IR only, RF only, or IR & RF. If thats the case, you can set the TV IR only, and Tivo to RF only. You would have to abandon any other repeater system you have now, because you don't want the tv commands to stray into the other room and control the tivo.
If you have the pyramids the mx-350 remote will communicate directly with pyramid receiver, which you wouldn't want.
