You mean crap like annual rate increases, annual commitments, leased equipment, and no choices on DVR equipment? Oh that's right, DTV has those things and my cable company doesn't.

Probably the middleware (software) on a cable box.

Are you sure the cable box upgrade didn't change the way a channel change occurs? You might want to re-run guided setup again and verify the channel changing part.

I've rerun the channel changing wizard several times. The frustrating part is that the TiVo changes the channel properly about 60% of the time. It is very unpredictable when it will not properly change the channels.

I mean crap like paying more money for less channels with a cable tv subscription packakge. Everyone I talk to that has cable tv is paying more than I am and getting less services than I do thru DIRECTV.

I'm not locked into any annual commitment with DIRECTV. I know new subscribers that get a good deal somtimes have to agree to keep the basic service for a year. BFD

I've got DVR choices with DIRECTV. I can use a standalone TiVo, activate a DIRECTV/TiVo SD DVR, activate a DIRECTV HD TiVo, or the use the HR20 or one of the other non-TiVo DVRs. My HR20 works great, even though it's not a TiVo(imagine that ).
