Upgraded PSU??
I see many posts on the subject of the "just good enough" Tivo PSU and I was wondering if anyone has taken it upon themelves to develop a more "robust" version?

In a word No.
Even blindlemon was only able to commission a run of power supplies to the existing Tivo spec some time ago.
The reason old chap is down to cost. They would cost loads more than the current spares ones still being sold on Ebay. Especially now with interest in Tivo in the UK slowly declining......

Not necessarily true
I had a psu fail in a Humax freesat box - a kindly eBay soul does a part-exchange repair/replacement with UPGRADED components (or so he said)
So what I was hoping for was an "existing" Tivo PSU, but beefed up

All thats needed is someone to take the time to look at the tivo connector block and make a tivo->ATX cable.
IIRC there was only the problem of the 32V line, but that isn't used if you don't use the RF tuner?
[edit] found the thread here:

Surely the Tivo might still sulk if its power up diagnostic tests found the analogue tuner not available to it?
The bottom line is that unused power supplies are available for only peanuts and despite people moaning about them generally do the job.
So that is why nothing has happened to date viz a viz a replacement enhanced power supply.

Hi Phil
As I understand it, there is a under rated resistor in the early Humax PSU's.
So the one you brought had the correctly rated resistor, so is probably described as with Upgraded components which is good.
You can buy kits to "upgrade"
http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/humax.htm
Pic of tha damage it can cause, have a google, I am suprised a recall in not in place.
Not a expert, just what I have read and googled.
I don't think the TiVo PSU has any underrated components, mine has been great for many years inc loads of power cuts and that..
