S3 and Harmony 880 problem........

S3, brand new, 8.3 update, Harmony 880 remote, FiOS, 2 cable cards.....

It seems that everytime I go into the TiVo menu, whether to go to the now playing section or anywhere else, once I go back to live TV, the live TV button no longer switches tuners......it brings up the guide for some reason. Doesn't matter if I manually go to "Watch Live TV" from the TiVo menu, press live TV on the remote or hit guide to go back.

I can still switch tuners from the info menu and that's fine.....

....but it's totally random. Sometimes it goes back to the other tuner with no problem and other times I get stuck in the guide.

I've checked the cable cards, all the other settings, restarted it, reprogrammed the 880 remote to make sure that there aren't 2 buttons programmed with the same setting....I've tried just about everything I can think of and still nothing. BUT....if I pick up the TiVo remote, go to Now Playing and hit Live TV from there......it seems to fix it....some of the time. BUT....if I try to troubleshoot it by doing what I just described, it doesn't always fix it.

It's a headscratcher for sure. Anyone else ever have this problem? I've only had it for about 2 weeks and got the 8.3 update last week......so I don't really know if it happened before the update......but I don't recall it happening with 8.1.

Do you have one button on the 880 programmed as "Guide" and another as "LiveTV"?

Yes...menu, exit, guide and then info.....basicallly the default settings for the S3. I've tried programming the exit button as both exit and then as live TV and have had the same problem.

Try removing the S3 and then putting it back in on the Harmony site, you never know.

It's a standard problem. I don't remember the solution; I don't have a Harmony so didn't pay attention, but search around.

The problem is that one of the default setups of the Harmony is programmed with Series 1 codes, instead of Series 3. The TiVo sees that and then assumes the remote is a Series 1 remote and does not have the right buttons to do the "Live TV" switch. You can temporarily switch it back by certain actions, but the right solution is to get the Series 3 codes into the Harmony.

I don't think it's an 880 issue but a TiVo issue. I had it happen the other night while using my 880 so I picked up the TiVo peanut and it did the same thing. I had to do a few commands to get the Live TV to work properly.
