Because ver 2.4 won't run/install on a Win 2000 system. And the installer doesn't tell you that until after it's uninstalled ver 2.3. Which leaves one with no TIVO Desktop. Nice programming job -- nice logic. And a call to TIVO tech support yields the answer that their web site doesn't provide a way to download ver 2.3, so they suggest going to tivocommunity to see if someone has a copy of 2.3 .

Nice to see that TIVO expects everyone to follow the Microsoft line and upgrade to the latest version of Windows. And, of course, they don't provide a ver for Linux to help those of us trying to break free from the clutches of Redmond.

And, yes, yes, I know, I should have kept a copy of ver 2.3 "just in case". But I've looked in all my download subdirectories and don't find it -- very un-typical of me, but true.

Yes, I read the requirements much too late -- only then did I see the XP req't. Things like that happen when I get in a hurry.
I went to majorgeeks to see what I could find. And I did a Google. Tried all links to ver 2.3, and all of them took me to tivo's 2.4 download page.
Called tivo tech support -- ver 2.3 is no longer on their site. Cute.

I just can't believe that ver 2.3 has disappeared completely. Of course, I also just can't believe that I didn't save a copy of it -- not like me.
Desktop was one of the few programs that I still had to use Windows for -- this will be one more push toward Linux for me.
