This was my favorite show before AP trashed it. It was the only show I could watch in reruns. I'm going to miss it. Then again, I have all the DVD's, so I guess I can revisit Stars Hollow whenever I want. Tonight's going to be very sad. I'll probably cry like a baby. I've never before cared this much that a show was ending.

I know I did.
It was a respectable finale, but it all seemed so fast, and the fans deserved so much more after seven seasons.

should have been 2 hours.
I'm a bit verklempt. Rosenthal did a fantastic job turning the show around though. We will forever speculate What Palladino would have done with the ending, but I can't imagine it being much different than what we got.
I'll miss this show and I've only recently become a fan. I started this season on CW and got caught up on ABC Family.

Agreed.
And, FWIW, Ausiello has said he's trying to get AS-P to spill the beans on what her last four words would've been. Probably "I love you, Rory."

Biggest choke up moment for me:
"You've given me everything I need Mom"
Also Richard's words to Lorelai were perfect. Emily saying them would have sounded sarcastic and insincere.

Solid end to the series. Should of been 2 hours IMO but well done for 1 hour. Richard had a great little speech to lorelai. So glad that christopher and logan were not in the final episode.

No need. Palladino swore to Ausiello that when GG was over she would tell him her final words.

It would have been nice to see Dean in there somehow.

Alright, I'll plead gross ignorance. I understand that AS-P had this planned ending of what her final four words would have been. But how important could they have been? It's not like there was some great conspiracy involved, so how important could these last four have been?
Maybe it was, "I'm a bitter c*@t."
Sorry, just don't get it...although I haven't seen the last two weeks.

When they filmed this episode was it known to be the series finale?

Actually I don't think so. I think they filmed it with the knowledge that it could be either the season or series finale, but I don't think they knew it would be the series finale.

Quite sad, it was really an excellent show and will be greatly missed. It would have been really interesting to see that stuff they would have pulled out with Rory being grown up.

I liked it. So there.
I would've liked it even more if the Web site Rory's reporting for was CNN.com.

Correct. Lauren Graham alluded to this in her final interview with Ausiello:
Quote:

When we finished [shooting], there was a 50/50 chance we'd be returning. So when we left the wrap party, we were like, "Bye! See ya next season!"

They really should've set up the finale to set up for a shortened 8 season. The finale was solid, but very rushed. It should've been 2 hours.
Did I like the whole Luke/Lorelie thing? No, but at least they didn't shove it down out throats, which was good.
Some cons:
- I would've liked to have seen a call or something from Logan, to at least say bye and leave a window of opportunity for them. (I guess an 8th season would leave us all guessing). Also Christopher saying bye to rory or something. I hate that he and lorelei didn't end up together.
-Where's Paris ?! I'm glad that lane got some time in with rory. For someone who is her bestfriend, they only appear in like 2-3 episodes per season. But Paris was very much missed. I would've liked to see her and doyle there as well.
- I also would've liked to have seen a little bit more of Michele and Lorelei interact with Suki (hence 2 hours !!!)
- what happened to april? lol
Some good:
- the resolution between the gilmores. lorelei and emily coming to terms with agreeing to disagreeing and that she didn't need to "bribe" lorelei into having dinner together.
- of course the interaction with lorelei and rory
but overall i was very emotional. i loved this show, althought it lost me after the whole mess with lorelei and christopher. But on a personal level, i could totally relate to rory. i graduated (albeit 5 months ago) but my graduation is in 2 days, i'm off for vacation for 2 weeks n then im gone and leaving home for good and starting a new job. so yeah .. thanks GG

The recurring character that I kept looking for and didn't see was Mrs. Kim.

Yes, I missed Mrs. Kim as well. That was unfortunate. Also Sebastian Bach -- at least I think the actor's name is Sebastian Bach?
I think Paris had her moment last week, at graduation. Also Christopher.
The show ended up exactly where it should have -- Lorelei and Rory having breakfast in Luke's Diner, with Luke whipping up pancakes at the grill.

I was very happy with the ending. Richard's little speech and Emily kept trying to interrupt was so good. I also liked when Lorelei casually mentioned that she'd still be coming to Friday night dinners. I thought it was a nice touch that they got Christiane Amanpour to appear as a guest at the inn since Rory mentions her constantly.
I'm even happy with Rory's "new job" which re-affirms all the decisions she made last week.

it would've been to cliche for rory to have gotten the NY Times. it's just like going to harvard. with her character, i would've liked for her and logan to have at least one more conversation .. either on phone or in person just to say bye and end things on a better note. it also seemed to rushed when rory came in to dinner and said she got a job. but hey it was the finale

An ending without Christopher. Nice!
I'll keep this episode saved permanently.

I don't agree with the sentiment that it should've been two hours. Actually, that's not entirely accurate considering I watched the last two episodes just now. I thought the final two episodes were a good two-hour finale. But I thought this episode was a perfect ending, and the rushed feeling was spot on for what the storyline called for.
I'm beginning to think I'm genetically unable to cry after watching this. Glad to see Luke and Lorelai will wind up together.

I knew it. I cried. It's just a tv show, and I sat there crying while I watched it.
I wish Mrs. Kim had been there. It was a good ending, though. It was so typical Luke for him to put that party together and to sit there sewing tarps to make a tent for the party.
I'll miss seeing new Gilmore adventures, but at least I can see the old ones whenever I want. Thank goodness for DVD's.

This would be a good show to have the occasional two-hour movie update:
Rory Gets Married
Rory Has Twins
Rory's Husband Gets Trapped in a Construction Cave-In
Lorelei Has Twins

Does this mean we assume that Rory eventually marries Dean?

Now that you mention it, I agree. I based my hasty "yes" on Loren's appearance on Ellen where she made it seem like it was known at the time of taping the last episode that it was indeed the last.
