"Dead Like Me" movie
This is slightly old news, but new-to-me news and I didn't see it mentioned around here...
http://www.moviehole.net/news/200704..._greenlit.html
April 18, 2007 moviehole.com reported that MGM has greenlit a direct-to-DVD movie based on the Showtime series "Dead Like Me". No word on casting yet, but they have Stephen Herek ("The Mighty Ducks") as director and the script will come from Stephen Godchaux, a writer and producer for the original series.

I would be all for it if they could get the cast back together but I wonder if they could get Mandy Patinkin back. Without Rube it wouldn't be the same.

Still to this day, Dead Like Me is the *only* TV show I have gone out and bought the DVDs to catch up on previous seasons.
In the case of DLM, I started watching in Season two. When that season ended, I went out and bought Season one on DVD. Then they canceled it.
Then I went and bought Season two on DVD. Just to have it. Simply one of the best shows of its time, on cable. I'm not sure how a movie would play out, but you won't hear me complaining about it.

This is exciting. I had never seen the show until they started playing reruns on Sci-Fi channel...then I went out and bought both seasons on DVD and really enjoyed every episode. I would be all for the movie.

The show was interesting at first, but after Rebecca Gayheart left, my interest faded.
<------ would prefer news of a Six Feet Under movie!

I liked the show until the bitter end, but I think they made a mistake when they softened it (making the lead more "likable") in the second season. I liked her more when she was less likable...

Dead Like Me: Back From The Grave.
Works as either a movie tagline or the title to a story about the movie

I would be glad to see a DLM movie. However, without the same cast, I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on this and see how the casting goes.

They wrapped things up pretty well. I personally don't think a SFU movie would be a good idea.
As for Dead Like Me, unless they can get the entire cast back, they shouldn't make the movie.

As a whole, the series was good, but the first 6 episodes were simply wonderful. I really wish they had kept the darkness to the show.
I'd heard that before the creator left the show, he was gearing up for George's father to reveal that he was gay. Go look back at the first season, and you can see overtones to that plot point.

Like at George's funeral when his "Friend" was there and she pointed it out?

Thanks for posting the news! Like others, get the whole cast back together or don't even bother. Mandy Patinkin's on CBS, Callum Blue's on Showtime (The Tudors), and I don't know what the rest are doing. But they all need to be there for it to work...

I really liked that show and thought it was over too quickly. I'd love to see the Movie. Hopefully somebody will bump this thread when it becomes available.

What's Ellen Muth doing these days? You never see her in anything. She had the hangdog Chloe look perfected (of course, she *was* dead--that'll depress anyone!).

"Chloe"? She played Georgia "George" Lass, a.k.a. "Millie."

I hope to God they abandon the story arc of her mother and sister, though!

According to ellen-muth.com (where Ellen herself posts), Ellen's in the film; the actress that plays Crystal, Crystal Dahl, posted this on another forum...
Hi everyone:
First, sorry Rich, I wasn't in on the loop about the "when" the annoucement would be made.
Second Casting: I received a phone call from my agent approximately a week and half (is that right, Rich?) asking me to be a part of it. I presume everyone will be included in the movie.
Shooting is scheduled for Montreal and will begin sometime in June. Exact dates haven't been released to me, yet. Maybe you know something I don't.
Now all secrets are out, ummm, Rich?
Crystal
Aside from the rest of the cast, I hope Mandy Patinkin is able to commit to this during his hiatus from Criminal Minds. It ain't Dead Like Me without George and Rube, IMHO.

I would definitely want to see a DLM movie.
I'd like to know more about George's ability to reap the graveling at the end of season 2. That seemed like something the other reapers probably couldn't do. Is it something reapers aren't supposed to do? Is it a power no other reaper has ever had? Will there be penalties for doing it? Will it make other gravelings hostile to her? Lot's of possibilities.
I'd also like to see if Rube's interactions with his family have repercussions. Maybe they could even deal with what happened to Rebecca Gayheart's character and what price she paid for illegally crossing over with one of her reaps.
Of course, I'd like it the most if they do reassemble the entire cast...including Rebecca Gayheart.
Now someone needs to get an Odyssey 5 movie off the ground.

I saw a picture of Crystal on-line and I didn't recognize her from DLM. She had a huge smile in the picture, that would be why I didn't recognize her. We never really saw her smile in the show.
I hope this happens. I really liked the show.

I wasn't clear. I meant she had the same mug-look that Chloe (24) uses, never happy, rarely smiles.
I'm pretty sure they're different people, although I've never seen them in the same room at the same time . . .

I think they need exactly as many of the original characters as the script calls for.
And if they have half a brain, they'll write the script around the characters they have, so it should work out just fine!

I really liked the show, I cant recall if Mandy had the opportunity to Sing (usually does in EVERYTHING else he does). I wouldnt miss him - you would however have to get the rest of the Band together.

I hate that though.... where there's four out of five of the main characters and they start the reunion movie with a conversation about how their friend got a great job offer in Paris and then never mention them again. I'd rather they keep the spirit of the show the same and just use a different actor.
