How to hook my tivo up to my computer?
I am new to this site and have recently purchased a tivo series 2.
I am interested in hooking it up to my laptop which is wireless to my main pc in another room. I have no idea how to do this and any tips/info would be appreciated. Don't know what further accessories I might need?

You need to connect the TiVo to your network. Check out TiVo.com for a list of approved wireless adaptors, or you can get TiVo's own. Plug it into the USB port on the back of the TiVo and connect it to your network. You can also purchase a USB-to-ethernet adaptor if you want to connect it wired. Then you have to install TiVo desktop onto one of your computers and use that to pull shows off the TiVo and onto your computer.
Good luck!

Yes, but make sure you either get one of the TiVo branded wireless USB adaptors, or you check the list on TiVo.com for the compatible adaptors. Not all of them work with the TiVo.
Here is the list: http://customersupport.tivo.com/Laun...2-253346b15256
TiVo Desktop is software that you can download from TiVo.com. Download it and install it like any other type of software, and when you run it, it will see your TiVo and it can download shows from it.
Here is the page for TiVo Desktop:

Just to warn you, some non-tivo wireless adapters have worked in the past and no-longer are supported, as is my current issue with the 8.1a upgrade. Tivotogo is a great feature, you will really enjoy it.

As an aside, if you decide not to buy the tivo USB wireless adapter from their website, I found it difficult to find supported versions at retail outlets. If you do an ebay search for "tivo wireless adapter" you will find many listings for a reasonable price and avoid driving around town trying to find the right hardware.

I have a sd-dvr-40 Hughes that doesn't have a USB plug on the back. Is there another way to get the signal to the TIVO wireless adapter ??
