can plug'nplay drives between diff brand S2 DTivos ?

I have the original 40gb drive from a Hughes SD-DVR40 that is sitting on the shelf being a backup at the moment. I currently have a 160gig drive in that box but have a 500 ready to go in it very soon.

I am wondering, if I buy another S2 DTivo box witha broken drive or none at all (RCA, Samsung, Philips, etc), can I just slap the 40gig or 160gig drive in it and it will be fine (i.e. without having to wipe the drive fresh etc) ???

Unless yuo have it hacked with superpatch et al, you need to do a C&DE.

And if you do have it hacked, you'll need to run 51killer.tcl once you've put it in the new box.
