Prodigal Son...

Well, I just had to say it...

I was an early adopter of Tivo. Purchased the first Tivo box made and LOVED it. Back then I tried to describe what it did to friends and family, but got blank stares. So, I just started buying them all Tivos for Christmas and Birthday presents. Over the years I was like the Johnny Appleseed of Tivo Land.

Alas, a couple of years ago my cable station came out with its own DVR box and I (stupidly) decided to shelve my Tivo for the cable version. Fast forward 3 miserable years, and I have returned to the Tivo fold with a brand spanking new Series 2 dual tuner!

Oddly enough, the feature I missed most was Tivo Suggestions. Naturally, with the flawed Cox box that I had, I was lucky to get programs recorded much less have the box pre-record "suggestions". What a wonderful feature.... and the fact that Tivo will "learn" my taste in entertainment is just icing on the cake. Now I am getting LOADS more use out of my cable subscription... all because of Tivo.

I simply cannot wait for the movie download fuction with Amazon to become active! Happy days ahead.

Anyway, I just thought that I would say hello and tell anyone who is thinking about switching to their cable system's DVR, save yourself the misery and heartache. Keep your Tivo subscription current!

I think most people go with the cableco or satellite DVR's to try and save some money or because they want all the features (HD, PPV, VoD etc.). However, I just layed down a chunk of change and went through some hassle to stay with TiVo. I could have simply went with my service provider's HD DVR. I just couldn't part with TiVo. No regrets so far.

To Tivo's new advertising company:

OP has a good story. Not only do you have to sell to those who don't know what Tivo is, you have to sell to those that do.
