Searching for signal....

After years of using my old series 2 40 hour tivo I went out and bought a new dual tuner tivo today. I have it all set up but I am having some problems.

I do not have a cable box and have just regular cable.

If I am recording one show and try to flip through the channels to watch another show I am able to see all the channels and can even record another show but the whole time I am doing it I get a blue box on the bottom of the screen that says "searching for signal..."

This doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes and it usually just goes away. What could be causing this?

I saw this a couple of times with my second DT unit. I suspected that it was being caused by the probable numerous splits of the coax within the walls of my condo. I took out on of the splits to a couple of rooms that I do not need a coax signal (kitchen, second jack in bedroom) and rebooted the TiVo. Haven't seen that message since.

The problem can be caused, most likely, by a weak cable signal. Too many splits in the lead can be the culprit. Also, a reboot should be in order.
