HR10 Maybe DOA....

I unplugged my HR10-250 to move it. It's worked great for a couple of years.

Completely stock unit.

When I plugged it back in, I'm getting no lights on the front and no video.

I popped off the top. The fan is spinning but the hard drive is not.

When I unhook the IDE cable the Hard Drive spins up, but still no video or lights on the front.

When I plug the IDE cable back in the HD will not spin up.

I've check all the power connections and front connects. Everything is in solid.

Very strange.

Ideas?

Thanks!

I think this is more a hardware general tivo issue than HD specific. That's why I thought it went here....

That's okay, it's just that the members over there will be more famiiar with the HR10, even the hardware stuff.

I just thought of something. If the IDE cable is plugged in reversed, the drive won't spin up.

The case had never been opened on this one. It was my stock "reference" tivo. I've hacked the other two HR10's with multiple drives and networking.

Unfortunatly. It was the one the girlfriend used and she's not happy to loose a months worth of oprah and muary and etc.......

Sounds like a power supply problem, or possibly a defective hard drive. What happens if you plug in a different IDE drive? Even if that drive is not yet configured with Tivo software it should at least spin up when the Tivo is powered.

You can get replacement power supplies at http://www.weakness.com.

It was not the power supply. A new one made no differance at all.

Did you try connecting a different drive in the Tivo? Did it spin up?

Yes I did. No it did not spin up until I unplugged it from the motherboard ide connector. Exactly the same as the originial drive.

Seems like it must be the mb at this point.
