Series 3 sounds like a helicopter

So I just got my Series 3 today and hooked it up,

but when the room is quiet the fan sounds like it is off and makes a quiet helicopter sound. You can't hear it with the TV on but it is quite annoying with the TV off.

Any suggestions?

A fan is probably messed up or hitting something. Either get Tivo to replace it or, if you are adventurous, pop open the lid and see what is wrong. Since you just got it my recommendation is to get it replaced.

Yeah something isn't right there. Mine is extremely quiet and I have the Weaknees 750GB hard drive upgrade. I have to get close to the box to even here it.

Thanks for the quick replies. Just got off the phone with tivo support--they are sending me a new box out. I knew that didn't sound right!
