In a previous post, I said that you could use the "english" alpha-numeric password when connecting to an Apple Airport wireless network, indicating in no uncertain terms that the HEXIDECIMAL password was not necessary.
I stand corrected.
Even though entering the alpha password worked for the fine for the first three weeks without any problems, yesterday all hell broke loose: wireless failure 100% and reboots and re-entering the alpha password all failed.
I called Tivo. They said that it was not possible to use the alpha password on an AIRPORT network. OK. (it worked for 25 days, thru several intentional reboots?!?)
Re-entering the password, this time the HEX password, WORKED INSTANTLY.
I apologize for giving out the wrong information.
