does DTV have a limit of the maximum number of HD and SD Tivo DVRs I can have?

does DTV have a limit of the maximum number of HD and SD Tivo DVRs I can have?
(all under one roof)

All my DVRs are running Tivo via DirecTV. Two HR10 are hooked up to 1080i HDTVs, another two HR10s are hooked up to 480p TVs via component inputs,
and 3 SD DirecTivos going into crappy TVs... plus one SD DirecTV that's not hooked
up to any TV. (going to Slingbox exclusively) Grand total: 8.

Thanks!

No. No limit. The practical limit is your multiswitch capacity, but with current multiswitches you can easily support 16 or even 32 satellite feeds.

There's no reason you can't use multiple dishes.

But I believe there is a limit on the number of DVR's the DVR fee is good for. Something like 8, I think.

In this thread from 2002 they talk about a 20 receiver/account limit: http://www.dbstalk.com/archive/index.php/t-7891.html

Hmmmm. Could have sworn I've seen a post or two from folks with more than 20 Receivers/DVRs. I'm sure it's possible, for a price.

I have yet to see anything that links to DTV's policies regarding any limitations on the number or receivers or DVRs you can have on a single account. The sky's the limit AFAIK.

There used to be a "soft" limit of 8... where they would start to "question" a little bit on why you had so many.

Now, I don't even that exists any more.

I had 7 TiVos....now down to 6

Two HR10-250's
Two Sony T60's
One R10
One H20

Total of 12 outputs.

I just had them put the new dish in and they put two 8 port multiswitches in parallel so I have 16 outputs.

I've never been questioned...the installer even told me I have room to grow now

I have:

2 HR10-250 DirecTiVos
2 Sony SAT-T60 DirecTiVos
5 HDVR2 DirecTiVos

9 total TiVos with 18 sat inputs. I have room for a couple more DirecTiVos on one multiswitch and one more on another in the Master Bedroom.

I have the 5 LNB dish with a pass through going with 4 cables running to 2 seperate rooms. What kind of Multiswitch would I need to use if I wanted to add a 2nd HD Tivo or HR20?

How many conflicts do you have? Do you record like EVERYTHING on at 8pm on thursday?

In the 8 and 9 O'clock hours, yes. I actually resort to a cable DVR to record the 5th show. But that box is the biggiest pile of stink. I would hasten to say it is probably worse than the HR20...lol.

Used to have eight SD-TiVos
Now I have two and a HR10-250. Five HD Media Center PCs handle the locals and the ability to watch SD is lower everyday. If the SD channels disappeared tomorrow I'm not sure I would miss them. Between Food, HGTV, Soap, Disney and SciFi the SD units still have a temporary place and use. Sort of sorry I spent a lot of effort on upgrading those now since 40 hours is far more than we need...

I record more than I could ever watch, but then I don't try, either. I want to know that no matter when I sit down that there will be something on that I WANT to watch. With 2 HD DirecTiVos and 7 SD DirecTiVos that is never a problem.

Soon I will add 2 HR20-700 DVRs to the list. I might retire 1 or 2 of the SD DirecTiVos.

I have 7 HR10's, 5 SD DVRs and 2 HR20s. All are zippered except the HR20's. I do not care for the HR20's but I figured that I needed to check out the interface. I have never been questioned on why so many. I figure, why not?
