I have FiOS, just bought S3 - have questions.

When the box comes, who do I call first?

Do I plug it all in and order TiVo service and then call FiOS for cable cards?
Do I call for TiVo service BEFORE plugging it in?
Do I just leave it alone until cable cards arrive for installation - and THEN call for TiVo service?

Thanks,

Jim H.

Tivo give you 7 days to activate. You can hook up the S3 skip activation and verify the S3 is working before the cable cards (Fios Install) is done. With the coax connected directly to the S3 you will get analog channels and some digital ones. In my case, Fios installed the cable cards on the 5 day. This way you can make sure that you do not have any issues that may require a return and eliminate having to change your activation with Tivo in the event the box has to be changed. I was concerned given UPS delivery of my S3 and the condition of the box but all turned out fine. The only major issue was with Fios scheduling the tech to show up with the cable cards. After 3 techs and many calls it was completed. Fios has some internal order processing issues and their dispatch is not very effective. The first two techs showed up at my house and did not have cards.

IMO, the best roder would be to

1: Set up the DVR WO cablecards (but for digital cable).

2: When everything appears to work, activate DVR service.

3: Proceed to order and install cablecards.

I have searched a bit, but have not seen a definitive answer on this. I am calling and setting up a FiOS install in montgomery county, MD. Do they have multistream cards? Do I need to order two or will the one be sufficient for dual tuner use?

Thanks

Dual tuners require 2 cards. And no, I don't believe anyone has multistream cards yet.
