Connecting HR10-250 to Satellite

I am new to Dtv and currently have the HD receiver with my single tuner Tivo, which I discovered does not often change channels and record. BEing a newbie, I didn't realize my options, so I just recently bought an HD10-250.

I was wondering if it is possible for my to connect this to my 5LNB, so I don't have to have a service person come out to my house. I don't want to mess up my signal, but it looks like I can just connect another cable to the satellite and run it down to the receiver. Any help is appreciated.

Also, how do I go about getting the dvr to work on my access card I currently have in the hd receiver.

You are correct in that all you need to do is run another cable from your dish to your new receiver. Remember that your new receiver will not take advantage of the new MPEG4 channels so set up the receiver as a 3 LNB dish.

To get the access card to work, you have to call D* and let them know you have a new receiver.

Finally, why don't you stop by the section of the forum that covers the HR10-250 - DirecTV HDTV TiVo Powered PVRs .
