Is it Possible to record from VCR to Tivo?

Hi,

I have a few home videos that I'd like to make digital copies of. As I've no TV-in ports on my PCs I was wondering if the TiVo is able to record from a video player source?

Cheers,

Ian

If your VCR has a SCART output then just plug the SCART lead into the AUX socket on the TiVo and 'change channel' to a channel that would be received from your STB.

If you are using RF (aerial only) for your programme source, or your VCR doesn't have a SCART output, then plug the RF output of the VCR into the RF-IN on the TiVo and try all the aerial channels (including the ones you don't normally receive) until you find the channel the VCR is outputting on.

Just to add, tivo will think it's recording whatever is on the channel it thinks it's on and will stop recording accordingley.

Set a manual recording for that channel for the duration of the video

Thanks for your responses, I'll have a dabble at doing it tomorrow morning (TiVo not scheduled to record anything else then).

Cheers,

Ian

Cheers for the comments and advice. I've only just had chance to do this and it worked a treat.
For info, I unplugged the Freeview end of the SCART lead that connects my Freeview box and TV. I plugged this into the VCR and changed the TiVo to a channel that had signed off (Film 4+1) as this would have several hours before the current "broadcast" would end. I then played the tape and started TiVo recording.

Cheers,

Ian
