Your One Year Commitment Ended; What were your options?
So you bought a TiVo a year ago with a $12.96/$6.95 1 year commitment, and now you've signed up for another plan. What choices did you have?
The current options on new boxes require 1-3 yr commitment at varying prices...were you limited to those when you re-upped?
Another subject for future contemplation:
You bought an S3 and did an LT transfer. Its a year later and your former LT box has no service plan - what choices are you going to face? Will you have to sign the old box for 3yrs to get a good subscription rate?

Are you asking for confirmation from those which this happened to trying to get confirmation on if it matches with the F.A.Q.?

If you bought a TiVo a year ago, there was no month-to-month plan but the $12.95/6.95 month, which you'd be kept on (without commitment) unless you wish to change, and it would be just stupid to change.
Your former LT box probably will be treated as new, unless TiVo will automatically put it on MSD.

Did you ever by a S3?
They specifically said the ex-VIP transfer boxes would be at the 6.95 rate.
I too would like to see if that pans out.

I don't recall that commitment. I hope it is true.
Check out the Che@p Chicken B@$t@rd thread for info on my S3 journey.
(In case I didn't post it there - I eventually settled on a TCS $680 S3 @ MSD($6.95) 1yr. I am taking a risk with the terms after the year is up - I could have locked in $6.95 3yr within the 30-day cancel period, but I didn't.)

Why sign up for another plan? Existing monthly subscribers are grandfathered. If you were paying $12.95/month, you continue to pay $12.95/month. If you were paying $6.95/month, you continue to pay $6.95/month. There is no reason to call and recommit unless you can get a lower rate by doing so. Say you were on the $19.95/month bundle - you'll continue to pay $19.95 unless you call up and commit to 2 years ($14.95/month) or 3 years ($12.95/month). So doing so is in your favor.

Those are the only options for new commitments, period. That's clear.

According to Pony the former LT box is eligible for $6.95/month MSD.

Has anyone's one year commitment ended? Didn't those start in March?
Here's the real issue, I think: Pony's FAQs
Quote:
Q. What if I bought a TiVo under the previous 1 year commitment program (monthly or pre-paid options) before November 4, 2006?
A. Our current practice is to allow these subscribers to continue their service on a month- to-month basis at $12.95 / month. TiVo does, however, reserve the right, at any time, to charge the current applicable monthly fee for a one-year commitment of service, which may be higher.
