Going to sell my Tivo on ebay, what do I need to do

I am sad to say that I am going to be selling my Series 2 on eBay. It has a lifetime subscription, and if I clear the machine, would the buyer have to do anything to add it to their account? By adding to their account I mean setting it up have online scheduling, etc? Also, what if they later wanted to transfer the lifetime sub to a Series 3?

Thanks!!!

How much do you want for it? I am getting ready to buy one. Shoot me a price, and perhaps we can work something out.

All they need to do is call into customer support with the TSN and ask to have it transferred to their account. All the other set-ups would be the same as if they were buying a new Tivo. They would have to go through guided setup to get their channel guides and network/phone setup to their preference.

And when you say "later" regarding the lifetime transfer to S3, that ends on Dec. 31st, so they'd have to do it quick.

Only if the seller has called in to cancel the TiVo on their account first.

It should be that way but its not, if I know the TSN of your lifetime TiVo I can Xfer into my name without knowing even your name. There is another post in the help part of this BB going into this potential problem.

I bought one from a family friend, and he called in, told them he was transferring it to me, and then put me on the line. That transfer was done in minutes.

OT
It's a whole 'nother story with the VIP Lifetime transfer to the S3 - that took 150 minutes on the phone, including hold times! That doesn't seem to be the norm though - I called at a bad time, and got unlucky with clueless reps. Some people have done this in minutes as well.

So little time! So much to know!

Actually, I think you have to buy the S3 by 12.31.06 and then activate by 1.31.07. For details, check www.tivo.com/vip

Asu - I was stunned when I called in over the weekend to do a VIP transfer... 15 seconds tops and I was talking to the rep, making it happen!
