Does S3 Have a Power Back Up?

Got a nice little power outage going on over here. The first time I had an opportunity to use my generator that I paid 3 G for a year and a half ago.

We were having some trouble with our UPS however. We had to adjust it so it wouldn't keep going from power to battery. While we were doing this everything went off - but the S3. We checked the internet and found out what to do to stabalize our UPS and everything came back on, powered by the generator as it should be.

At one point we turned the UPS off completely. Nothing would come on. No TV, No amplifier. Yet the S3 kept on going recording Justice.

So does the S3 have a little back up of it's own? I wasn't aware of it.

Maybe I accidentally plugged it into the surge protection only. That would explain it because when the power went out it did reboot. But I thought that section was on the top of the UPS.

I'll check tomorrow.

Nope - my S3 has gone off immediately the 2 times I have unplugged it. And after opening up my S3 last week, I can tell you that there isn't much of anything inside it.

It appears I simply had the power plugged into my UPS on the power surge only part, which is why it continued to record even though the battery power ran out and shut everything else off.

I could have sworn I plugged it in the battery back up section, but either I don't remember what I did or a cable guy moved it without my knowledge.

Anyway as it turned out it was a good thing since we have a generator TiVo kept right on recording because it was on the surge only hook up. We have lowered the sensativity of the battery back up so next power outage everything should work properly.

Bought a generator a year and a half ago and it's the firs time you've needed it.

Sounds like the 3 G spent on the generator was well spent.

In the first year I lived here we had 3 major power black outs running numerous days before being repaired. I have 10 exotic birds and I need to keep them warm and the last time we had an outage was 3 days at the end of Winter. I had a tough time keeping the house at 50 degrees.

So I buy the generator and of course no major power outages for the next year and a half! I think we had one that went 1/2 an hour, that was it. But yesterday we were down 7 hours and temperature was in the upper 20's. We had heat, light, and TiVo. And we wern't stressed out about when the power would be coming back on.

I'm glad I bought it. So is the wife.

I am impressed that the system could sit for a long period of time and fire right up. What brand is the system?

It doesn't just sit there. Every week it runs an automatic test run for about 12 minutes. The brand is a Generac and it runs off of natural gas. Very nice piece of equipment, keeps our air, heat, most of the lights and many outlets including the stove, microwave and fridge. More importantly we live in a rural area so when the power goes out we have no water. It runs our well pump so we can shower and everything. Use the dishwasher.
