Tivo desktop

After doing some research i'm interested in the TIVO Desktop options with networking my TIVO boxes to my computer. I understand I need software version 8.1 to have network capabilities, both my series2 TIVO boxes have software version 6.2. How do I update to 8.1 ?

Prepare thyself for disappointment.
From your version number it sounds like you have a DirectTivo unit. They don't support the Networking feature, and stopped being upgraded at 6.2

To anticipate your next question: It is DirectTV's decision not Tivo's.
