The Ultimate Fighter Finale

No thread? The Scott Smith - Pete Sell fight was great.

Agreed...that was one of the best finishes I have ever seen. That body shot must have KILLED.

Dana White really botched the announcing between the fights...hahaha

End of the Serra-Lytle fight was cut off. But the fight was pretty boring through 2 rounds. Lytle showed good take down defense, but didn't show any offense. Serra showed why he would get KILLED by Matt Hughes. If he can't take someone down, it's over.

I feel REALLY, REALLY bad for Travis Lutter. He looked like a little kid next to Silva. That should be one ugly fight.

The only problem with this format is now Lutter and Serra are going to get KILLED by Silva and Hughes. There are better matchups out there for title fights.

Although I suppose it will be a huge PPV draw because of all the Spike exposure and it gives the champions an "easy" title defense before they move on to some real challengers. Hardcore MMA fans wont tune in to the PPV but TUF fans will...

Y'all keep saying Hughes like he is going to walk through St. Pierre this weekend.

Looking forward to this Saturday. I was somewhat bored during The Ultimate Fighter Finale. Lot of "yawner" type fights.

So I'm not a hardcore MMA fan because I'm a TUF fan?

That's what 1x and 2x speed is for. You can usually see when something good happens. Then stop and rewind. I didn't bother with the 1 hour shows but I knew there would be a lot of grappling and not much happening in the 3 1/2 finale.

Depends on which Hughes shows up Saturday night. If it is the same Hughes that fought BJ Penn he'll go down. Hughes looked like an amateur until Penn's injury at the end of round two*.

I've seen the rumor floating around that if Hughes wins Saturday he might move up to 185 and fight Silva for the belt. That would close out his current UFC contract. That would give him HUGE bargaining power for his next contract if he won.

I'd love to see Hughes do it. As he mentioned in his interview during the finale the other night, Hughes and St. Pierre are the elite of the WW division. No one else even comes close. Meaning no, I don't believe Diego Sanchez is at their level.

Of course in that interview all parties involved seemed to think Penn was going to drop to LW. Penn dispelled that rumor on his website. He says he is staying at WW.

I have mixed feelings about Penn fighting at WW. LW is obviously his "natural" division. But he has proven he can fight with the best WWs the world has to offer. I would DEFINITELY love to see Penn fight Hughes and St. Pierre again.

*Yes, Penn was injured. The medical report proves it. He didn't gas.

Hey I like the TUF too...but if you go to sites like sherdog they look down on TUF fans because they are new to MMA for the most part. Although its such a stupid viewpoint because if you are a true MMA fan you should want to increase the popularity of the sport no matter how people get on board.

Serra is a very likable guy and was my favorite fighter on the show, but he has no business fighting Hughes or St Pierre. He really needs to drop down to 155.

I can't see Hughes beating Silva if he moved up to 185. Silva's height and reach advantage would be hard to overcome and Hughes might lose a little quickness if he bulked up. Of course I have no idea what Silva's ground game is like because he has killed the only 2 opponents I have seen him face with his stand up.

If there was one fighter that got on my nerves it was Serra and his constant "coaching".

I figured he wasn't going to be much of a threat when he barely got past Shoney.

I don't agree that it depends on which Hughes shows up. Just because he looked bad against Penn (who may be the most talented guy in WW) doesn't mean he showed up poorly.

Penn has some awesome skills, the best 2 round fighter in the UFC. Now if he could just get motivated to go balls out on cardio.

He trains with the Noguira (sp?) brothers. Watch some of his fights on youtube.

He's got ground skills.

You are not giving Shonie the credit he deserves. He's been in over 100 pro MMA fights and isn't messed up. He has won most of those fights.

He's a damn good fighter, even though he's a bit crazy.

Point taken, I liked Shoney and his crazy act. In that fight with Serra it really stood out how much bigger and stronger he was than Serra.

I still think Serra's annoying.

Serra is one of the few (maybe the only?) guys on the team that had experience as a coach and trainer. The other guys on the team basically elected him as the team captain and WANTED him in their corner giving advise. While you might not like that you always had to hear him in the background I'll bet that if you ask any of the guys on that team they'd say that Matt was instrumental to their wins. He's a great coach. Simple as that. Not to mention one of the most talented guys on the show (not that I think he can hang with Matt Hughes, but I think he could beat anyone from TUF4).

Not to mention the fact that people like myself watch other fighting organizations, but still prefer UFC. I've watched plenty of Pride, Bushido, etc. and still prefer UFC to them all. I've been watching UFC since the very first one and I don't think that the other clubs like Pride even come close. They might have some great fighters and some fun to watch fights, but their presentation leaves a lot to be desired. Plus, I HATE seeing MMA in a normal boxing ring and much prefer the octagon.

At the Weight class he was fighting, he didn't look too impressive to me. The fact that he won was an indication of the overall lack of talent in that class. I'd take that bet against TUF3 (You meant TUF3, not 4 I presume)
