Does store.tivo.com really suck this much?

After the huge shipping/tracking/misinformation debacle with the S3 launch, I swore I'd never buy direct from Tivo.com again. Here we are only a few weeks later, and I gave in; I ordered two Tivo branded wireless adapters direct from Tivo.

I placed my order on 10/12 @ 9:00 pm, selected 2 day delivery.

I waited patiently until today, 10/17, but I still had no shipping notification, so I called in.

The CSR tells me that he sees 3 day shipping on the order, and that "it will ship today, I mean it did ship today". I thank him and ask for the tracking number, and he says "Um, it's blank, but I think UPS has a website where you can look that up."

So.... is every order of even the most basic accessory royally screwed like this? Am I just special? I guess I'll wait a bit more, try to get my tracking number and then fight for a refund of my 2 day shipping charges.

...and this time I'm REALLY never ordering from there again!

You know damn well that by mid-November you'll be ordering S3s by the dozen from TiVo Store.

I've been saying that about you for some time.

If you check the TiVo Store right now, you'll see that the wireless adapters have a note that says they'll ship in 7 to 10 days. I don't know if it said that when you ordered, but it seems like they may have a bit of a shortage of those right now (though HDTiVo will no doubt claim it is the result of a glut of them in Ethiopia, or something).

Maybe the thing that makes you special is bad luck in ordering from TiVo.

TiVo stocked too many adapters at their warehouse in Ethiopia. There is no shortage.

I think the OP meant to limit this to transactions subsequent to the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

I didn't notice that, but even if it did, it doesn't explain why the CSR indicated my shipping got downgraded to 3-day, and why a tracking number wasn't available on 10/17, when I found out last night that the order actually shipped on 10/16.

Oh well, the order is out for delivery today, so it looks like it was just more misinformation, as opposed to an actual screwed up order. I'll probably live.

ROFL

To the OP - you made one mistake. You called Tivo Customer Runaround (formerly Tivo Customer Service).

I just bought a S2DT and asked for standard shipping. I got a shipping confirmation within 24 hours with the tracking info. TiVo arrived on time with no issues. I didn't call into support because I didn't have to. And all this was just two weeks after the initial S3 rush.

I think it depends on what you order. It seems they use different warehouses to ship different items. And for some reason some of these do not provide any shipping information. I can't for the life of me figure out why TiVo doesn't get a real shipping system in place. You know how many less calls they would get if you could just log-in and see when your item shipped and the tracking number?

yes, the store stinks. I've had bad experiences as well.

For the tivo wireless adapter, I've stuck with buy.com and had much better success in getting the product in a timely fashion. Now that I think about it, I've ordered my tivos from there as well.

Smile New Tivo Store works for me!

I ordered a Tivo HD from the tivo.com website and the process was painless and my order arrived within a week. Not sure about the other's experiences but they appear to be from a couple years ago... Serivce seems to have improved alot since then I guess.
