Question What Should I do?

I received a 40 hour S2ST Tivo for Christmas with a one-year gift subscription. The one year sub will run out near the beginning of January.

Here are a couple questions:

1. Since I already own my Tivo, am I able to get any kind of 1-2-3 year package deals on the subscription service with it? Or, do I have to go to the $16.95/mo subscription?

2. I would love to upgrade to a S2DT, but I have no need for two Tivo's. Can I give my S2ST to my Dad (keeping it in my name) and then buy a S2DT as an additional unit (for the extra 6.95/mo)?

3. Would it make more financial sense to deactivate my S2ST and get the S2DT w/3 yr package deal, or to keep the S2ST I already have and pay whatever the monthly sub is?

Thanks!

1. It should be 12.95 per month. There are prepaid deals. Check the TiVo web site:http://www.tivo.com/3.0.asp

2. Not according to the service agreement. Both TiVos must reside at the same address.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure where you're getting the 12.85/mo figure.

My gift sub shows it being charged 12.95/mo, being activated Jan 5 , 06 and expiring Nov 06?? Shouldn't that be Jan 07??

It looks like if I go with a S2DT w/3 yr package - total $399, would be ~$11/mo. So, if sticking with my current one would mean 12.85/mo (although the package deals I'm seeing state 16.95/mo as the lowest number) then upgrading seems like it would be the way to go.

If I do that, then what do I do with my current S2ST Tivo? Since its not Lifetimed, I doubt it has much value to anyone else does it?

I believe the ".85" was a typo.

The traditional price for a monthly sub is $12.95.

(As for Nov. vs. Jan., I'd say call TiVo and ask why it seems to be expiring two months early.)

The $16+ price is when you don't even pay much (if anything!) for the machine itself. It's a VERY special package deal.

If I understand right, once the initial contract at the $16+ rate is over, you own the machine, and you can go to the $12.95 rate.

Also, additional machines are about $7 per month once you have the main subscription.
