/ducks Is there a new Tivo powered HD-Dtivo planned?
I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I never come into this forum and a search just brought up too much information to be useful, so I figured I'd ask straight out:
I'm soon going to HD DirecTV and want to know if Tivo has made any plans of releasing their own Tivo? I need to know if I need to find an old Tivo HD-Dtivo, or wait for a new Tivo one, or if I'm stuck with the DirecTV DVR minus Tivo.
thanks in advance for your patience.

The series 3 stand alone TiVo is all I know about.

There is no new HD DirecTivo coming... you either have to get an HR10-250, or go to the newer box with no Tivo software .

You never know what the future might bring now that Murdoch looks to be exiting the DirecTV business, but there's nothing on the horizon for HD DVRs for DirecTV other than some additional rumored NDS (non-Tivo) boxes (a media center-type box, another one for custom installations).
It will be interesting to see how the Series 3 does and how the Comcast and Cox Tivo boxes do. I like my HR10, but the Series 3 doesn't seem as much like a revolution as an evolution. It'd have to have like 4 tuners, a TB of storage, etc. to really be exciting to m.

The HR10-250 will not work with any of the local sat HD channels or the some time in the future added HD channels that will be MPEG4.
Great if you get great OTA reception.

I thought you could use it for either, but then I forgot about MPEG4.

Can't say 100% there won't be a new MPEG-4 HD DirecTivo, especially if Rupert sells. Probably only ever see it in our dreams though.
