S3 Software Upgrades/Patches

Does anyone know if/how we can determine if TiVo has pushed an upgrade/patch to our S3's, and what exactly was included in the upgrade/patch? I know I can see the current software version, and can document that, and periodically check to see if the current version has changed, but that doesn't tell me what was included in the more-recent version.

There was a small patch released shortly after the release of the S3, but I do not thing there was any documentation on what exactly if fixed/changed.

An update occured late last week that fixed my problem with the yahoo and fandago apps.

When I first got my S3 none of the yahoo apps would start. I was not even getting the prompt to log in.

Since last Saturday now I can check weather and traffic before leaving the house. Nice to see this working.

I remember reading that the update was done on the back end by TiVo, so no new software was needed to our S3 boxes to correct that issue, IIRC.

Well I still have that problem... so that issue hasn't been corrected. Oddly each time I visit these forums I tend to get up set at TiVo*... maybe I need to remove that bookmark...

* Still waiting for that I'm sorry phone call from Tivo...

This is just a theory, but I think for things like Fandango, Weather, Movies, etc where the web site needs to know about you as a specific user, I think information is sent to the web site from your box to identify you. I also think that Tivo provides Yahoo with the specific information that is valid based on the boxes registered with Tivo. Given the initial shipment fiasco, I think this information is just now being relayed to Yahoo and the mapping between your request and your box is just now being connected. As more people get their information into the system, they Yahoo apps work.

As an alternative, the yahoo sites may query Tivo sites for this mapping information and Tivo may just now be getting their databases up to date.

Maybe... but the CBS Fantasy thing fails to work as do the movie reel things... maybe the software update (that should happen at 2am) might help solve these issues... maybe

How did you learn of a software update that is to occur at 2am? I'm assuming that is 2am Oct 11th?

Well if you go to Tivo Central
-> Messages & Settings
-->Settings
---> Phone & Network

Check out the Last status.... and since I did a manual TiVo Service connect at 4:57pm.... well I had the update waiting to go...

BTW: The next attempt is set for 2:20am (10/11)
