DirecTV with Media center PC

I have an HP media center PC and to download TV guide listings I have to put in a zip code. However I also have DirecTV and would like to use my computer as a DVR. Has anyone else figured out how to solve this issue? How do I download a guide for DirecTV? Thanks

The microsoft guide will allow you to select Satellite as an option instead of OTA or Cable. Then it's just a matter of using a DirecTV box with the IR repeater that should have come with your remote/IR setup. I ran one for about a year and a half. Recording quality wasn't that great but was decent enough to watch on the computer screen.

Ok.. so if i do it by this method will it simply let me control my DirecTV, or will it also give me the Guide listing of channels on my PC so i can record shows and such when I'm away onto the computer?

Yes, the Media Center Guide will show your DirecTV channels if that's what you specify. You can then program recordings on your DirecTV channels and the Media Center PC will change the DirecTV Receiver's channel at the required time and record your program.
