6.3a To Do / History Behavior

I noticed something strange about my HR10-250 with 6.3a. When I do "View Recording History" I see strange entries. For example, it says that on "Thu 10/5 9:00 pm Grey's Anatomy Won't Record". If I selet this, I'm told it will not record because "someone in your household modified the season pass ..."

Here is the kicker. If I select "More recording options", I'm presented with the option "Record as planned". In short, this same entry is also in my To Do List!

I have multiple examples of this behavior (with some variations).

I'm told that "Tue 10/10 10:00 pm Boston Legal Won't record." The reason, so the Tivo says, is "The program will not be recorded because it is no longer in the program guide." Yet when I select "more recording options" I am again told the program will be recorded! And yes, looking at Tuesday 10/10 in the guide shows the program is there.

So, this doesn't seem to be causing any trouble, but it certainly doesn't seem right.

Anyone else seeing this inconsistent Tivo information?

... Altan

I have been seeing "double" entries in the recording history on both of my HR10's recently and both are still on 3.1.5f, so it's not a 6.3a problem. I have multiple season passes that have 2 history listings for each, one says that it will record and the other say that it won't record because it has aired in the last 28 days (mind you, that these are all new show that have never aired before). On "Boston Legal" 2 weeks ago I had the 10:00pm listing stop 1 minute in because it was "no longer in the guide" and the 10:01pm listing (for the same episode) start 23 minutes late due to a "power failure" when I never lost power. I only have one season pass for "Boston Legal"! Both of these aren't quite the same thing as yours, but seem close enough to be related. My take on the "Boston Legal" problem is that there was a last minute change to the start time and the TiVo hadn't updated the guide in time for the recording to start, so it caused a conflict.

I've seen the message that someone has modified the season pass when the show changes in a couple of versions. You will also see Show is no longer in the guide if the show changes (removed and put back in), usually with time changes.

I think the first message (someone modified) comes about when they update the guide data without changing the time of the show. It "thinks" you made the change.

Just a bad error message.

old software here and thanks for reminding me of something...I had posted this under the Season pass forum:
-------------
I have 2 HDtivos. 10-5 ep didn't show up due to a season pass manager conflict on my Tivo1. However there was no conflict in reality. I went to the SP and did a view upcoming ep. only channel 6 and 86/87 but not 6-1 OTA. When i went to the guide, i pressed the episode on 6-1 and it said it would record, however it did not get put into the to do list.

I had to do a manual recording for that time to get it to record.

Tivo 2 only shows the episode on channel 87 at 11pm, not even the local sat channel 6.

How can 2 tivos both have different guide problems?
--------------
and now can correct my posting and say it was someone modifying a SP that was the message i saw...of course no one did but it was weird what happened to the recording. My OTA channel literally disappeared or something. Bizarre.

Point is..this error message was seen by someone who has the old software but could the new software be causing it even if it's not installed yet?

I wonder if these issues have anything to do with recordings stopping early.

Any ideas about this one?

Yesterday our TiVo (HR10-250) was unplugged from everything due to some construction work. Last night I plugged it all back in before House started so we would get that recorded.

Later I checked and it didn't record House (OTA). The recording history claimed it didn't record because someone in the household wouldn't allow the TiVo to switch channels to do the recording. I left it sitting on Comedy Central on both tuners after it started up and didn't touch it again until after House would have ended.

This was all on 3.1.5f software (sorry for slightly OT post). Does anyone know what could have caused this?

Thanks,
- LoopinFool

This was covered in other posts, but tons of people who season passed greys anatomy before the premeire experienced very strange behavior. It's best to delete and re-add the season pass.

I see this quite often on various programs - especially the one that says "someone in your household changed recoding options" in recording history when a show is missing from the season pass To Do items. Usually if I check again the next day it's back to normal, but not always.

One problem I have found with the season pass when you want new episodes only is that sometimes the guide data does not have the "first aired date " which will keep it from being scheduled. This just happened with CSI Miami, but it did correctly after several days. This all assumes that you have time to keep checking instead of relying on the programing.

I think this may be happening because those shows actually were starting at 10:01. , instead of it's usual 10 :00 starting time . My machine did the same thing.
