Service fee with upgrading???

I just upgraded my Tivo to the 80-hour TiVo® Series2™ DT DVR from the 40 hour series 2. My monthly charge has been 12.95 for the past couple years and I had to buy a new package with the new tivo which costs 16.95 a month. Has anybody else had this experience? I was wondering if you must pay the higher price or if there is a way to stay with your original subscription fee while only upgrading the box. Thanks...

Are you figuring in the cost of the box? Because it sounds like you are on the plan where the cost of the box is in the monthly fee.

The price of the box was $30 and then the monthly fee is 16.95 for 3 years.

You got an upgrade package from TiVo - what you got was a TiVo DT box and a 3-year service package for $16.95/month.
