The Office - 9/28/06 "The Convention"

I never thought I'd start one of these threads!

But I don't see one for this week. Hilarious episode...Dwight Got a Hooker!

Oh my god, this episode was cringe-inducing... I swear I watched almost the entire episode peeking through between my fingers.
Michael to Jan "We need to set some ground rules..."
or Dwight's "You don't have e-mail on your phone" followed by "Nobody's calling you"... damn, it was hard to watch.

Funny as hell though, good start of the season so far!

Heh, this was a nice episode. Wow, I feel bad for Michael, it's sad. I know what you're saying MickeS.

"Can you check the price on a Chinese baby?"
...
"I don't think I'll want a baby in 5 months"
Something like that, haha.

BTW, what exactly was Angela's interview segment about? She said something about a code phrase she had to point out sluts and then complained about flies being in the room.

Was any of that supposed to make sense in any way? Cause I didn't get it.

Sigh... some people just don't have the mental capacity to appreciate a show like The Office. Seriously - why bother?

No, it was not supposed to make sense!

Uh, was it?

"You should talk to Roy. He knows exactly how you feel."

I was surprised that Jim would confide in Michael (again) but I guess he figures it doesn't matter anymore.

I think Jim sincerely likes Michael. He is always sticking up for him. When Michael showed up to Jim's party and sang that duet in karaoke, Jim got up there and sang with him. He definitely feels sorry for him, but I think it's almost turned into a lost/hurt puppy thing for Jim. He's secretly rooting for him, just like in tonight's episode when he showed up at the party. It wasn't to laugh at him, it was to be nice.

Oh, and I spit out my water when Michael was in the room doing his camera moment, and then they panned over to the Hammermill guy. That literally almost killed me.

This was a whole new level of cluelessness for Micheal.

Yet another classic episode. I loved Michael's reaction to the camera when Jan said, "I can't be on top of you 24/7." He totally wanted to say "That's what she said" but somehow he summoned some restraint.

I really wish we would have seen more of the Angela/Dwight thing. They kind of left that hanging after Jim thought she was a hooker.

Toby trying to ask Pam out: "I was wondering, um, uh, um, [pause], I totally, um, forgot, um, what I was going to say."

Loved when Pam realized her date wasn't leading anywhere and she buttoned up her blouse one more button.

When I saw Dwight, I thought about how petty and stupid all the jokes I played on him were...and then he spoke.

(or something like that...)

Another very funny episode.

No one's mentioned Kelly feeding and smothering Ryan on the double date.

I loved that Michael was already wearing thee free shirt swag from the convention. Was it a Microsoft Office shirt?

I love how they changed Kelly from season 1 to season 2. She started out as a buttoned-up professional Indian woman and became a full-scale shallow nut stick in her teens.

SWAG!!!!

Creed just sat down and started eating "Andrea's" cereal!

I agree, another awesome episode. For me definitely the best comedy ever.

Loved the blacklight at the end.

LOVED Jerome Bettis cameo. "Why do they call him the Bus?.....because he is afraid to fly.... " Nothing better than combining an all time best Pittsburgh Steeler with an all time best Comedy.

One of my highlights from this show was when Jim and Dwight meet when walking into the convention. Jim puts his hand on Dwight's shoulder and Dwight goes into a full-on dry heave to get away from him. Made us laugh!

When Toby was trying to ask Pam out there was a brief moment when the Post-it's on her desk were in focus. I paused to read them. It's her TV schedule. She watches Big Brother on CBS and a show about Jane Goodall on Animal Planet. I'm surprised a CBS show would get mentioned on NBC. Also glad to have HD.

He was just being typical clueless Dwight and in the process inadvertantly making Michael look foolish. Why would he be passive/aggressive towards Michael who he clearly worships.
